This event has now passed, but we will be hosting another ABP Newport Wales Marathon Training Seminar in April. Keep posted for details!
See below for details of the 2018 event.
Join us in Goldcliff for an exclusive evening of all things marathon.
With the ABP Newport Wales Marathon fast approaching, we’re putting on a Training Seminar and general run around for marathon runners looking for advice on the big day, or wanting to test their form on part of the route.
There’s 50 exclusive spots for marathon entrants to join us at the Farmer’s Arms in Goldcliff on Wednesday 28th March, almost one month to the day before your marathon adventure begins. Our training seminar is on a first-come-first-served basis, so if you want to get involved, don’t hesitate to pre-register.
At the family-run pub, Welsh women’s marathon record holder, Jacqueline Brace and an experienced marathon runner will be giving all the advice you could ever need on marathon running, from diet and hydration to shoes, kit and what to expect on the day itself.
As well as the advice, this is an exclusive chance for entrants to get used to part of the route around Goldcliff with fellow runners. We’re splitting groups into three, the experienced, the intermediates and the beginners, and you’ll have the choice of a 4 mile run or slightly longer 6 miler! We don’t want you to over-exert yourself so close to race day… so the distance is up to you!
And don’t worry if you are feeling exhausted by the end of your run, the Farmer’s Arms will be on hand as your refueling station.
Make sure you get to the Farmer’s Arms in plenty of time, where there will be a free raffle for goodies supplied by some of our event partners. Watch out for our biggest prize too – free entry into all of our remaining 2018 running events, The Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival, the Brecon Carreg Barry Island 10K and the iconic Cardiff University/Cardiff Half Marathon.
Parking in the local area is restricted and we encourage runners to car share and travel with each other.
Whether this is your first marathon run or you’re a seasoned veteran in the distance, there will be plenty to learn and take from the evening to get you well on your way to making those final month preparations.
We encourage runners to wear fluorescent clothing on the day as you could choose to run up to 10K. Sunset is at 19:39.
Entry for the event is free with the opportunity to make a small donation to our Lead Charity, NSPCC Cymru.
