Over in Newport, in the heady days of 2006, six regular people with some serious smarts noticed that everyone was having a hard time finding an insurance deal.
Shoppers were bombarded with the cheapest policies, only to find the cover wasn’t right for them – it was all quite unfair. So, struck by a vision for a better world, they decided to get working on a website to change all that.
GoCompare was launched by a team of insurance experts in November 2006 and it was the first comparison site to focus on product features rather than just listing the prices. Of course the cost of insurance is important, but we recognise it’s not the be-all and end-all. Our aim was to help people make better-informed decisions when buying their insurance.
The plan worked. GoCompare’s customers have never been better off, better informed and more numerous.
