Kick off your ABP Newport Marathon Festival weekend in style at our official Pasta Party – the perfect chance to fuel up, relax and soak up the pre-race atmosphere alongside fellow runners.
Taking place on Saturday 18 April at Newport Market, this informal evening brings together great food, expert advice and the buzzing energy of marathon weekend. Whether you’re running the marathon, half marathon, 10K or supporting friends and family, it’s a fantastic way to get into the spirit before the big day.
Tickets cost £20 per person and include a hearty pasta meal and access to a special pre-race talk and Q&A with Coopah coach and international athlete James Thie.
A Unique Venue: Newport Market

The Pasta Party takes place in the stunning Newport Market, located right in the heart of the city.
Originally built in the Victorian era, the building has been transformed into Europe’s biggest indoor market regeneration, combining its beautiful historic architecture with a vibrant modern food hall and independent traders.
Today it offers a unique experience packed under one impressive roof – a lively community space filled with food, drink, and independent stalls. With its blend of historic character and modern atmosphere, it’s the perfect setting to meet fellow runners, enjoy great food and get excited for race day.
The evening will be hosted on the mezzanine level, overlooking the market below, creating a relaxed and sociable setting.
Fuel for Race Day
You’ll be able to choose from a delicious selection of pasta dishes, perfect for carb-loading before the marathon:
- Mac & Cheese
- Pesto (GF / Vegan / Nut-Free)
- Tomato & Mozzarella
- Ragu
- Garlic Bread
Food will be served from 6:30pm, with the bar open throughout the evening.
Pre-Race Talk with James Thie

James will share insights, tips and last-minute advice to help you prepare for race day, followed by a relaxed Q&A where you can ask your own questions. There is also an opportunity to submit a question when purchasing your ticket, to be read out on the evening.
