You don’t need to run to get involved with the ABP Newport Marathon Festival coming to the city on Sunday 19 April.
The event has been designed to allow everyone to get involved, soak up the good vibes and experience the race day atmosphere – whether it’s running the marathon, half marathon or 10K, or taking part in one of the junior races which includes a Family Fun Run, competitive Future Challengers race or the Toddler Dash.
There’s also plenty for those who don’t fancy running to do too.
Volunteering is an incredibly rewarding way to immerse yourself in the heart of the race. From handing out water, manning the bag drop, cheering on the runners or handing out medals and t-shirts on the finish line – there’s a lot to get involved in.
Run 4 Wales are now looking for people to join their friendly volunteer team, also known as the Extra Milers, to support on the day.
The opportunities are perfect for individuals who would like something to do while their friends and family are running. There are also lots of options for corporates, groups and running clubs to do as well.
Sophie Turner, Volunteer Manager at Run 4 Wales, said: “The Extra Milers who give up their time on race day to support are all heroes and are vital to the event’s success.
“We’re now looking for volunteers to join us in Newport on Sunday 19 April. You don’t need any experience to get involved, just be enthusiastic and ready to join in.
“Volunteering with Run 4 Wales allows you to have fun, learn new skills and promotes positive mental and physical wellbeing by being outdoors and helping others.
“We really appreciate everyone who gives up their time and we know that the runners appreciate it too.”
