2026 Elite race preview

ABP Newport Marathon Festival | NEWPORT, WALES

The seventh ABP Newport Marathon Festival takes place on Sunday 19 April hosting the Welsh Marathon Championships (Seniors) and the first round of the 2026 R4W 10K Series. Courses remain unchanged for this edition.

Welsh Half Marathon and 10km Record Holder Clara Evans (31:18) will head the fields for the 10K race having set that National record in Valencia in early January. With Evans in action, the course record of 32:55 set by Beth Kidger last year is definitely at threat.

2022 Welsh 10km Champion Olivia Tsim (33:57) improved her profile by finishing second at the Adidas Manchester Marathon last year and along with Tamara Beach (34:29) and last year’s runner-up Deborah Bruce (34:53) will all be looking to secure podium places.

Run 4 Wales regular and former Cardiff Half Marathon winner Kadar Omar (28:28) heads the men’s field, joined by Ronald Schröer (29:17) of the Netherlands, Great Britain International Dafydd Jones (29:18) and evergreen Master athlete Andrew Davies (29:39).

Megan Davies (75:37) and Triathlete Adam Bowden (65:49) lead the Half Marathon entries. Davies will be joined by Rebecca Ezra (76:07) and Hannah Lewis (76:32). Bowden is a former winner of the Barry Island 10K and was the 2022 runner-up at the ABP Newport Marathon. 2025 10K Wheelchair race winner and Newport native Owain Terrell will race the Half Marathon this time.

Samantha Antell (2:44:21) and Georgia Wood (2:50:52) are fastest over the Marathon distance with the winner of the 2025 Caernarfon Half Marathon, North Walian Tomos Roberts (2:20:54) fastest in the men’s field. He’s joined by Ben Fish (2:22:01) and Matt Rees (2:24:10).
