Don’t give up on your 2026 marathon dream!

ABP Newport Marathon Festival | NEWPORT, WALES

If you didn’t get a space in the TCS London Marathon through the ballot do not worry. There’s no need to give up on your dream of taking on the 26.2-mile distance next year as there’s still spaces left in the ABP Newport Marathon – part of the ABP Newport Marathon Festival.

Taking place on Sunday 19 April 2026, the race is just a week before London so you can still train alongside thousands of others who will be looking to take on the incredible challenge.

The marathon course in Newport has been devised by Run 4 Wales Race Director, and double Olympic marathon runner, Steve Brace. Having won both the Paris and Berlin marathons, he knows a thing or two about what makes a great route.

Famed for its flat and fast nature, the ABP Newport Marathon is one of the flattest marathons in Europe. It’s been listed as one of the fastest marathons in the world by Runners World and nearly 70% of participants have claimed a PB taking part in this race.

At the moment there are a limited number of early bird entries left, offering runners a £6 saving versus general entry pricing. Once these have gone the price will increase to £58 (or £56 for UK Athletics affiliated runners).

Matt Newman, Chief Executive at Run 4 Wales, said: “If you didn’t get into London and looking to take on a marathon next year, or you’re wanting to push yourself to achieve a personal best, the ABP Newport Marathon is the race for you.

“The course takes in both the city’s rich history as well as the stunning scenery of the Gwent Levels. Runners get to experience the best of both worlds running through country roads, spotting coastal wildlife as well as some of the city’s iconic landmarks such as the historic castle, Victorian Market, Transporter Bridge and International Sports Village.

“Like all Run 4 Wales events you can expect a well organised day with a fantastic atmosphere and a warm Welsh welcome from participants and spectators alike, so why not join the hundreds of others who have already signed up and take part in what is expected to be a fantastic day.”
