Adjusted Marathon Results Now Available

ABP Newport Marathon Festival | NEWPORT, WALES

Following reports querying the accuracy of the Marathon course distance at the Newport Marathon Festival on Sunday 28 April, Run 4 Wales asked the Association of UK Course Measurers (AUKCM) to review their course measurement.

Unfortunately, the AUKCM has concluded that there was an error with their measurement, resulting in the Marathon being 276m too long, which equates to 0.171 miles.

Run 4 Wales is disappointed that this has happened at one of its events and understands and apologise unreservedly to those impacted, particularly those aiming for good for age qualifying times.

For this reason, we have been working with London Marathon Events who have agreed that 2024 Newport Marathon finishers will be able to submit their adjusted times when applying for a Good for Age entry at the TCS London Marathon.

Adjusted times can be seen below, with an equivalent number of seconds removed. For example, a 3-hour finish time has been corrected by approximately by 70 seconds, a 3½-hour finish time by 82 seconds and a 4-hour finish time by 94 seconds.

Please only submit your adjusted time when applying for TCS London Marathon Good for Age entry, noting on the application that it has been adjusted.

If you are seeking to use your finish time to qualify for any other events, please contact race.director@run4wales.org to request a supporting statement for your application, which will detail the course measurement issue, confirm your adjusted time and the formula used to calculate it.

The AUKCM can confirm there were no issues with their half marathon or 10K course measurements.

Whilst it is not possible to update the official results of a licensed event, participants who took part in the marathon can review their adjusted chip times below.
