NSPCC Need Your Continued Support More Than Ever

ABP Newport Wales Marathon & 10K | NEWPORT, WALES

The ABP Newport Wales Marathon & 10K’s Lead Charity Partner, NSPCC, needs your support more than ever.

Right now, Childline is playing a crucial role in supporting children and young people as Coronavirus starts to affect their lives, with over 900 counselling sessions since January taking place about the pandemic. NSPCC’s Childline has been experiencing an unprecedented demand for its services as young people contact their counsellors about their mental and emotional health as they struggle to cope with isolation, without their usual support systems from schools and the NHS. The incredible Childline counsellors and online resources (https://www.childline.org.uk/) will continue to be a lifeline for so many throughout this time.

Our Lead Charity Partner are also continuing to update their websites with information for parents and professionals at this time. For example, for parents, helping to share guidance on talking to a child worried about Coronavirus (Covid-19). For professionals, they’ve updated the content on their NSPCC learning hub to include having a difficult conversation with children and undertaking remote teaching safely.

Every day we, our Lead Charity will continue providing reassurance, support and advice when people need it. NSPCC will also be there to support parents and professionals during these unprecedented and uncertain times. Young people can contact Childline on 0800 1111 or via 1-2-1 chat on www.childline.org.uk. Childline also has a huge online community where children can get support from their peers on message-boards and use expert resources to help them through any issue they are concerned about. If adults are worried about children they can get advice from NSPCC practitioners on 0808 800 5000 or help@nspcc.org.uk.
