The University of South Wales (USW) will once again be an Official Partner of the ABP Newport Wales Marathon & 10K.
The races, which will take place on Sunday 16 April 2023, will start and finish in front of USW’s Newport Campus.
The routes will pass some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Newport Transporter Bridge, and will continue onto the Gwent Levels before finishing back at Newport Campus. On the riverfront, the campus hosts a community of learning dedicated to people, technology and business, from counselling to cyber security, and from education to artificial intelligence. The campus is also included on the design of the medals and t-shirts which will be worn by runners on the day. The event, which will be delivered by Run4Wales, is considered a firm favourite in the Welsh running calendar and boasts one of the flattest courses in the UK.
Matt Newman, Run4Wales Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted that the University of South Wales are once again supporting the event as an Official Partner. Their Newport Campus sits at the heart of our event, as the first and last major landmark on the marathon & 10K routes. It is home to a whole host of community activity that takes place alongside the races.”
Dr Ben Calvert, Vice-Chancellor of USW, said “We are delighted to once again be an official sponsor for the ABP Newport Wales Marathon and 10k.
“This is a fantastic event, which brings runners from all over the world to Newport. We are thrilled to be a part of it.”
