Monmouthshire Building Society Get Active

ABP Newport Marathon Festival | NEWPORT, WALES

Our partner Monmouthshire Building Society have not only been doing their bit to support customers over 2020, but also their workforce, by promoting the importance of both physical and mental awareness.

The new wellbeing agenda has been embraced throughout the organisation, with employees embarking on some impressive physical challenges.

Louise Niblett  from MBS said, “We decided to encourage staff to take on a 3-peak challenge, which they could complete throughout the month of August. From cycling, walking or running the full distance, it was all about getting out there and pushing themselves physically.”

The response was brilliant, with one member of staff taking on the delights of Ben Nevis, whilst another notably climbed Pen y Fan 3 times. Most importantly everyone involved had fun and appreciated all the benefits that a session of physical activity has to offer. We also managed to raise over £400 for our chosen charity Shelter Cymru, which was another bonus”

Not stopping there, the summer also saw the launch of an MBS virtual running club, open to staff of all fitness levels. The aim is to create a supportive running programme, where employees motivate each other to stay active.

There have already been a number of virtual lunch time and after work runs, which have positively impacted colleague morale and wellbeing as well as social interaction when logging runs on Strava.
