No ballot place? No problem. Don’t give up 2025 marathon goal

ABP Newport Marathon Festival | NEWPORT, WALES

Runners who have been unlucky in the TCS London Marathon ballot don’t need to give up their goal of running a marathon next April.

Entries are open for the ABP Newport Marathon and those looking to take part can take advantage of a discounted Early Bird Entry offer.

The limited time price of £48 will save runners £6 versus the cost of general entry – but they’re encouraged to sign up now so they don’t miss out.

The ABP Newport Marathon on Sunday 13 April 2025 is part of the exciting new ABP Newport Marathon Festival.

The expanded event has become a thrilling day-long festival of running with half marathon, 10K and mile races alongside the full marathon option.

While participants may not see the iconic landmarks of the UK’S Capital, there’s still plenty of sights to take in around the Newport course including the city’s Transport Bridge, historic city centre, vibrant riverfront and international Sports Village. There are even some rural delights for nature lovers with the stunning natural scenery and coastal wildlife of the Gwent Levels.

The event’s even been named one of the ’10 fastest marathons in the world’ by Runners World, boasting one of the flattest 26.2-mile courses around – ideal for those looking to secure a PB or who are running the distance for the first time.

Matt Newman, Chief Executive at event organisers Run 4 Wales, said: “Newport is definitely a city on the rise, steeped in history with a multi-cultural vibe. For those who haven’t got into the TCS London Marathon through the ballot, the ABP Newport Marathon is a fantastic alternative where runners can expect electric atmosphere and a warm Welsh welcome.”

Thousands of runners have already secured their space, so why not join them? The early bird entry offer, which also applies to the half marathon distance, is only available for a limited time so don’t miss out.
